How we select alliance providers

With a backdrop of extensive history and experience, we begin by listening to credit unions and understanding the business challenges they face. We then research possible solutions, interacting with many product manufacturers and service providers to identify those best-suited for the challenge.

After an initial high-level screening of candidate companies, we undertake a rigorous due diligence process with a short list of possible providers. We gauge their suitability by measuring an exhaustive list of factors related to quality, financial soundness, integrity and cultural fit.

This proactive Request for Proposal (RFP) process helps us identify products, services and providers that credit unions need. We evaluate each possible provider based on the following key criteria:

  • The relationship must satisfy a strategic need and add high value to credit unions, their members or affiliates within the credit union system.
  • CUNA Strategic Services will conduct an appropriate due diligence investigation of any potential strategic alliance relationship—its management, financial soundness, business plan, reputation, and its products and services.  The due diligence investigation will also focus on the corporate culture of each company to ensure that it is compatible with that of CUNA, CUNA Strategic Services and credit unions.
  • The business plan for each strategic alliance relationship must meet CUNA Strategic Services' financial objectives.

How we work with alliance providers

Once an alliance provider is chosen, we work in tandem to create an offering that’s both compelling and competitively priced. We then promote that program to credit unions, educating them on the business challenge and the corresponding solution.

Simply put, the CUNA Strategic Services alliance programs are designed to serve credit unions by:

  • Contributing to the bottom line through increased operational efficiency or revenue generation
  • Adding peace of mind that comes from effectively meeting regulatory standards and addressing security concerns
  • Enhancing member relationships with services designed to grow and retain membership
