The Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards (PCI DSS) is a set of requirements developed by the PCI Security Standards Council for addressing the security of cardholder data that is stored, processed, or transmitted. PCI Security Standards Council members are: MasterCard, Visa, American Express, Discover Financial Services and JCB International.
This standard was created to facilitate the adoption of strong and consistent data security measures to protect sensitive cardholder data for POS, e-commerce and ATMs.
